• Celia Calabaza is a Jicarilla Apache and Santo Domingo (Kewa) Pueblo artist from Dulce, New Mexico located on the Jicarilla Apache reservation. She is earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts with an emphasis in Painting, along with an Associate of Fine Arts degree in Indigenous Liberal Studies. She is a recipient of the Brenda Julian Fine Arts Scholarship, Norman TeCube Sr. Scholarship, and the Los Alamos National Laboratory Career Pathways Scholarship.
    Calabaza art practice includes painting, drawing, and digital illustration. Through vibrant colorful and intricate compositions, Calabaza’s work centers storytelling, cultural identity, and lived experience. Drawing from personal history, family, and community, her work reflects themes of healing, intergenerational connection, and presence. She plans to continue her education in the Art Studio graduate program at the University of New Mexico.
